Auction Logisitcs...And Celebrity Auctions

Auction Logistics, is the name we have attached, to those tasks associated with assisting
auctioneers with the marshaling of auction assets and preparing them for sale, as well as
the disposition of purchased property, from the auction.

At Box Brothers, we have been blessed to be a part of some really memorable and fantastic
auctions, of all types. We can talk about our participation in the marshaling of assets on behalf
of the Michael Jackson auction, the Bob Hope Auction, the Ozzy Osbourne Auction, the upcoming Debbie Reynolds Auction next month, or the many varied auctions that take place at Bonhams and Butterfields, one of our regular and long term auction clients.

Over the years, it is our belief, that we have worked more auctions and serviced more auction
buyers, than any other firm in North America, for the last 10 years. This is largely because of
our packaging and shipping abilities and offerings, from the packing and shipping of very small
items (e.g. jewelry, dishes, glassware, porcelain figurines, albums, keepsakes, etc) to pieces of
artwork, musical instruments, furniture pieces, chandeliers and just about any other item you
can think of.

We have handled items from Elvis Presley, Elton John, Sting, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones
and we have distributed props from movies and television series and even bathroom fixtures
from some famous, unnamed people. But the most rewarding and satisfying part of servicing
the Auction industry, is seeing the purchasers actually receiving their property and how happy they are to own these articles that were once used on stage, on television or used by those artists
who they have been fans of for some time.

There are auctions that have less emotion associated with them, like auctions for coins and
old money, or stamps, but in virtually all other fields (memorabilia, sports or entertainment,
artwork collections), the customers are so thrilled to own a piece of history, that they often cannot wait to collect their purchases.

I recall sitting one year at the MusicCares Auction, the division of the Grammy Awards, where
someone who I had met came and got an Eric Clapton Guitar. He had been to his concerts since
he was a teenage, and had followed his career to the point in his life, that he could not afford to own a piece of history or an article that his favorite artist had used. He was so happy, he could
not wait to pay for it and get it. I think he wanted to sleep with it.

When we discussed shipping the guitar back to his home in Texas, he told me that he wanted it
insured, and I asked what the value was, and he said PRICELESS (this was before the Master Card Campaign by the same name). It is almost kids opening gifts on Christmas Day, but a little
more planned.

On the Auction side, we have developed great pride in our work, coming up with many innovations that allow for our auction partners, to not only streamline the after auction process, but with our systems, experience and know how, we have been able to maximize the auctioneers return by allowing them to focus on the actual auction process, not the logistics portion, and since
we guarantee all of our work and indemnify against any and all loses, we have been able to create a win win relationship for both the purchasers and auctioneers, at the same time.

We just love the work, the challenges, it poses and being able to have everyone happy with the results.
Here's to more auctions.....

Why do I need new Moving Boxes?

Bed Bugs Moving Box Warning

We manage a box store. Some years ago, people who were moving would often go looking for used boxes behind super markets and grocery stores. Nowadays, there are several companies who actually sell used boxes.

Many consumers are unaware of the hazards that come with moving your belongings in used moving boxes.

Pre-used boxes come with a host of other hazards, such as:

Lack of cleanliness.
Insects or insect eggs may reside within the boxes. Furthermore, damaging parasites or insects such as bed bugs, termites, lice, scabies, and others may have come in contact with the boxes.

Even one bed bug could result in a total infestation of your new home. Rodent droppings could reside in the box, which may be extremely harmful to you and your families health.

Lack of knowledge about what was previously in the box (i.e. Packing your toothbrush in a box that once held a floor mat, or hazardous chemicals and cleaning materials). The strength and durability of the box has been compromised.
The box may contain odor and Bed Bugs from previous contents.

The average person who doesn’t move very often is likely to overlook these facts in the interest of saving a few cents. However, upon reviewing the (very real) hazards that come with using used boxes, it becomes apparent that the potential damage that could be caused would be expensive to repair.

Imagine bringing a box to your new home that not long before held a comforter that contained bed bug eggs. A potential infestation in your new home would be disastrous and very difficult and expensive to remedy. Furthermore, the value of safety is priceless, and your safety and sanitation can be compromised by packing with used boxes. Imagine packing your toiletries in a box that once held household cleaners. What if those cleaners leaked in the box? That is, without a doubt, a potential safety hazard.

EXTRA TIP: Be sure to place your mattress in a box or mattress bag before moving! You never know what bugs and critters may reside in the moving truck and it’s moving blankets/pads!

Nevertheless, re-using boxes does go a long way as far as being “green” is concerned. The act of recycling, many believe, makes using used boxes worthwhile. HOWEVER, as far as environmental friendliness is concerned, there is NO difference between re-using a box, and using New boxes.

Why use an old and hazardous box, when you could use a new box made of 100% recycled materials?
A new box made of post-consumer recycled products is: stronger and cleaner, And above all, environmentally friendly and Bed Bug free.

Editor Comment Bed Bugs Moving Box Warning

Thank you for sharing this important advice. There is no question that bed bugs can be hiding in used moving boxes. I'd advise anyone that is moving to not only use new boxes, but to ask if the moving truck was inspected for bed bugs.

Remember, people who used the truck to move their belongings may have had bed bugs. Because of this problem, many moving companies are treating their trucks for bed bugs. Be sure to ask as there have been reports of bed bug infestations caused by moving.

Way to go Barry on Sunset

5/4/2011

I have been using this particular Box Brothers on Sunset Rd. in Green Valley for about a year and a half. I will never use anyone else for my packing needs. I ship a lot of high end musical gear. Barry is the only person in Vegas I trust to pack my expensive electronics (most recently a Fryette Sig: X amp head - Value $2,250.00). I always tell people he packs my items for war! Barry has packed 4 amps (Soldano, Fryette/VHT, etc and 5 different guitars (Jackson USA, ESP, Fender) and everything arrived alive. With well over $10K worth of materials packed for me, Box Brothers in Green Valley has a customer for life!

5 Star Yelp Review

Mr. Steve Wynn's Wedding Boxes.....

Hello Blog Peeps!!! As we all know by now, Mr. Steve Wynn recently got married... Lucky Lady... If it's not making Styrofoam lined boxes for his personal use on his yacht, so that his personal chefs can pack frozen foods from the Hotel, it's building specialty boxes for his wedding gifts he provided to all his invited guests.... As usual a last minute call from the Wynn Office Services, requesting custom boxes, Eric knocked out 50 custom Styrofoam lined boxes by noon.... Eric has been on fire lately with his international booking and keeping the Las Vegas Division busy.... Thanks Eric for the help and superior management skills.... On the photo of the egg in the cactus..... It was put there on Easter from the Easter Bunny as a prank to my kids.... The Old man known as Pops is seen here on his death bed... Just kidding... He had some stomach issues and had to be rushed to the emergency room... He's doing better now, but he's not going to be doing much more work with us in Las Vegas... Say goodbye to the Old Timer........

Final Pink Floyd photos

more Pink Floyd photos......

Original Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon) Artwork

Hello Box Bros Blog Readers; Here are a few photos of the original artwork for The Dark Side of the Moon.... For one reason or another, Eric didn't take the plastic wrap off of the pieces so we would get clear photos but at least we can see a little bit of them. Eric and Jacob did a great job going to the Encore Hotel (Wynn) after hours to pack on-site in the clients hotel room. The appraised value of these drawings are $750,000.00. So after we styrofoam lined a box and wrapped them, then we crated them to ship it to Canada. Everything arrived perfectly.....
