This Horse Is Not Going To The UK.

As the President of Box Brothers, I oversee quite a few operations that focus both on the provision
of services to our customers, from both our retail outlets, and our crating and shipping warehouses.

As we have grown from our humble beginnings, we have been fortunate enough to have retained
some very key people (I do not think the word employee is sufficient to explain their true value here)
that make up the Box Brothers Family, as we like to refer to it, as these are the people who have always
treated customers and their possessions, as if they were part of their own family treasures.

I have often commented upon the fact that it would be easy in this business—the business of helping all kinds
of customers move their goods, possessions, investments, and family heirlooms—to say that we have facilitated a move
from one place to another, but it is more than that.   After more than 25 years of Box Brothers helping families come together
for good and bad reasons, to help kids get to college, to help those with the task of distributing estates, to the sending of prizes from
contests, to auction purchases and the even the sending of perishable items like breast milk, we have come to realize
that this is not just moving, or shipping, or even packaging, it is the movement of life and a very important journey for
those who undertake it.    And we at Box Brothers, feel this is an honor that has been bestowed on us by them.

So our duty, and we define it as such, is to provide the very best we can and we do this by acting and treating all items
we touch and handle, as if they were our own.   We double check, triple check, and we never cheat on materials, on labor
or on how we approach the safe transport of whatever item needs to be moved.   Why, elevate the status of service, when
no one even expects good service anymore?  Cause that is our duty to our customers, and I challenge anyone in this business
to have such a solid and great record, both in brick and mortar (on the street) and on the net.

I find this truly remarkable, as none of our so called competitors, have our record of safety, taking care of their customers,
and making sure that they received not only our best effort, but a great result each and every time.

I invite any and all of you to see some of how our family packages items that are large, heavy, high value and difficult in
terms of size, weight and density, such as statues, silver settings, and an architectural model for one of the largest
commercial developments the Western United States has seen in a number of years, the Las Vegas City Center.
But so we are clear and unequivocal, each and every customer we work with gets our best, and our records, reviews and
customer testimony, make this abundantly clear.

Please enjoy these pictures and know that they come from retail stores, in Los Angeles, our packaging warehouse and

ship centers in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Northern California, and Seattle.   From our family to yours.

Is Bigger Better?

As the President of Box Brothers Companies, I am often in the proverbial hot seat when it comes to issues
with personnel, customers or in the shipping business, matters to do with shipping damage, delays, as well
as all kinds of other issues.   Just part of running a robust and diverse company with multiple locations and a
very strong commitment to our customers, for the last and only 27 years of since our beginning in 1985.

Of course, with hundreds of packages shipped daily from our retail stores, and dozens of LTL shipments
being shipped daily to our crating services, where this week, we will complete and deliver over 100 crates
to our respective customers---there are bound to be some customers or employees who have issues that
go no further than my desk.

It is important today, to be accessible, as that is the one GINOMIS trait that all of the larger well to do firms
have in common, no matter what their industry segment is, that no one in senior management will purposely
engage any of their customers.  Ever.

While there are exceptions, if I were to be able to give out “academy awards for bad service or a Lip Service Award”
(which means they all talk service but do not talk to their customers), one would have to go to American Express, for
having the biggest phone room without any supervisor ever being present, let alone any corporate officer, as that
info is more than top secret, I know cause I tried…..but UPS wins one of those awards, so does Home Depot, and how
about Avis and Hertz and United Airlines, who is supposed employee owned……

On the contrary, when a customer has an issue, they want to take it to as high a place as they can, so they can
communicate how they feel to be one of your customers.   What I do not get, at all, today, is how they all get
away with it.   I think these firms, who undoubtedly use focus groups, but why imitate what you have already,
customers and why are you afraid to speak to them?   Again, why people patronize these firms when they have
options to patronize firms who are smaller and for whom, your purchase means so much more than just about
anything else.

Today, I got a letter sent to me by a customer in the top (upstate) corner of New York.   One of our managers in
the Bay area, received a letter from this customer after our efforts to get her a set of antique chairs, to her remote
residence, was something we undertook for a customer we did not know prior.   This customer was so amazed at how
personable and friendly and committed to get her this small shipment, at a cost less than any van line in America could
or wanted to do………that when she got the chairs—and even though they were purchased online and when she finally
got them---they turned out to not work for the area she intended them to go----she wrote to us that it did not matter
that they chairs would not work as she intended them to, but that our service and our outreach by our manager, Connie.
was so great, it did not matter, cause now, our customer, has a friend in the shipping industry.   A fan too.

I tell this story as it helps define what we do at Box Brothers and why how we do things, makes all the difference to our
customers and that is why each and every one of our customer, rich or poor, small or big, are crucial to our ongoing success,
and I would not have it any other way.   Any one of our daily thousand customers a day, can call me anytime, or any of our
managers, employees or staff, as customer service, the real customer service is alive and well here at Box Brothers, as that
is who we come to work for each and every day, and to the rest of the world, spend your money where it counts as true
value comes when someone cares about you as a customer and your needs, you are not just a footnote on a balance sheet
and you are not just a number.   To us at Box Brothers, you are the reason we are here.   May we help you?

Another Way to Save on Your Long Distance Move/Shipment

People have many reasons for moving or shipping goods from one area of the country to another
area….jobs, schooling, family reasons, economic reasons, retirement are just a few of the reasons
people move great distances.

However, many people in this group, think there are only two options for getting their possessions across
the country.   A professional mover, or you can do it yourself in a rented truck.

Of course, this is a simplistic description, but all too valid.   In my company’s case, we provide a shipping service for
household goods and personal possessions, that allows the consumer to opt for any number of savings over the
traditional services of a full service mover.

For example, one of our benefits, is that we give our customers an option for both pick up service and delivery service
of our loads.  We can save the consumer money on the pick up, if the consumer brings the goods to one of our service
centers, as that allows us to pass on the savings we obtain by not having to use labor, fuel, a truck and other costs
incumbent on pick up the goods to be shipped.   By helping yourself out on the pick up or origin services, you might be
able to realize from 10 to 20% savings of your entire shipment cost.

Likewise, we offer another money saving option for our deliveries.   If you can bring the shipment into your own storage
unit or into your own garage or home, we can also save you up to 15% of the shipment cost by bringing the goods in from
the street, into your home or unit.

In these difficult economic times, you have to look harder for money saving options, but if you want them, we have them at

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

What does a box and transportation firm have to do with reminding people that October is
Breast Cancer Awareness Month?   Not much, but today, as they say, anything goes and
Box Brothers is proud to announce that, in recognition of those who have been assaulted
by this terrible disease and for the countless survivors who have fought the good fight to be able
to tell all of us--that with help, assistance and support, as well as determination, beating
back breast cancer (and other cancers too) is now not only possible, but probable.

But the fight is not over, not by a long shot, and we still need to make sure the message of
how difficult and how trying, this battle actually is, still needs everyones recognition and efforts to
eradicate it and make it a long ago memory, as we did with the terrible polio disease, when I was
a child.

I still remember, my late immigrant mother (she was a survivor of the Holocaust in Europe), she was
not only devoted to her family, but she retained some of her old ways, including some interesting
superstitious acts, that I will never ever forget.

One of those was if someone mentioned that they knew someone who had cancer, she would turn
away and act like she spat two or three times.  Almost like she would be mouth spitting, but not
actually doing it.   In her day, cancer was a death sentence, no one thought it could be overcome
or that one could get treatment for it and survive.

I recall my father having a bad pain in his neck and shoulder and I asked why he did not go to the doctor
and my mother told me he was afraid it might be cancer.   So when he went to the doctor later that day,
he did not have cancer, he was having a myocardial infarction (heart attack).  This just illustrates the
long term fear they had of having cancer.

I also remember as a young child, my mother taking me to get my polio vaccine.  The sugar cube.
They had friends, a next door neighbor, whose son was afflicted.   I heard stories of iron lungs and
how this friend of my brother's lived in one until he passed, as age 14.  I heard the stories of how they
heard his mother cry and sob all night about her son getting afflicted with this terrible deadly disease.

I personally have not had anyone in my immediate family who has had breast cancer, but I understand
how difficult and debilitating the treatment process is.   So as a company, we at Box Brothers, decided,
to do our part.

From today on, and until the end of October, we have changed the imprint on the three main moving
boxes from our blue print to pink print, and we have put a pint ribbon on each and everyone of these
moving boxes, so that we can bring more and more awareness to this cause.

One thing I can tell you for sure, that our moving boxes go all over the place, just like our customers,
to all parts of America, to all parts of Europe, Asia and in garages everywhere.  We are more than happy
to do this, as this message of caring, and of hope, is a message we are proud to be a part of this very
important and serious cause.   After all, the victims of this terrible disease and the future victims, deserve

Please join with us and do your part, whatever that is, in the ongoing battle to overcome cancer.   I know both of my parents would be proud that we have changed the outcome from impossible to promising, in one
generation.   And we will not rest until there is only a story to tell, just like in cases of polio.  We shall overcome.

Here We Grow Again....Nostalgia or Are Times Really Changing?

While it is difficult to always answer a question about what true direction our economy is actually
heading in, I am fortunate to be able to announce that Box Brothers is officially growing again, like we used to......

Box Brothers of Las Vegas, is officially getting a new expanded facility, just across the highway
from the famous, Las Vegas Strip.

What is most exciting is that our Las Vegas operations will now have a centralized location near all
the Casino's, and adjacent to Highway 15; that our Custom Crating Division and our Casino Services
Division will not only be closer to our clients, but these two key divisions of Box Brothers, will have expanded capabilities to do more of these services, as demanded by our clients.

This is our 19th year in the Las Vegas market, and we are very proud of our staff and our operations
as we have a reputation in Las Vegas as being one of the best service providers in this large and ever
changing environment.

We look forward to our grand opening celebration, which is scheduled to take place just before the
July 4th holiday, but our operations will begin in our new facility on June 4, 2012.

Our new location is at 4255 Dean Martin Drive, Unit H, Las Vegas, Nevada 89103.   We can be reached
at 800 355-7917, or on our website, boxbros.com

We can actually attest to the fact that we are growing again.......

Mother's Day is Coming........

Just a friendly reminder to all of you that Mother's Day is only 14 days from today, May 13th.
It is very important not to wait till the last minute to ship Mom her gifts, as if you do it early, it
will be less expensive to ship, since we have time this week to ship the presents ground, and not
air, which is a lot more money.

My mother, unfortunately, is no longer alive, but I remember what she often told me in her later years, which, for some reason, still rings true: a mother can take care of 10 kids, but 10 kids cannot take care
of one mother......I think my Mom told me this when I first forgot to get her a mother's day gift.....but
after hearing that statement, I was never late again.

Ask me, one day is not enough to celebrate mothers, as without them, where would be all be......
Happy Mothers Day.

Leap Year From Las Vegas.

February is supposed to be a month of catching up from the hustle and bustle of the holidays, but our store has been running non-stop. Me and Cowboy had to crate 5 huge 8'x8x8' dragon statues for the Wynn Casino while Chris had to pick up and pack over 100 awards. We filled a whole Fed-Ex Truck twice with all the boxes and lucky for us the Fed-Ex driver didn't even complain once! Aside from the usual strange size pictures we have to pack up and the normal household freight Gus/Cody get out each day the month has been steady. Gus even picked up a 700lb bronze statue from the Fashion Show Mall on the Strip. He had to go down a flight of stairs and across the whole mall, I have no idea how he managed it but it gone done on time like usual.

I wanted to talk about how long our boxes last, a customer came in the other week requesting a generalized box. She brought in an old box brothers box that had tons of old tape and labels on it. She told me the artwork that traveled in that box brothers custom cardboard box has traveled around the world 3 times and has been to over 50 countries. I was pretty amazed that it has held up for over 2 years while traveling so far while keeping its structure. We made her an exact box and told her we will see her again in another 2 years!

Happy leap year everyone!!

Has the Economy Really Turned a Corner? A Small Business Perspective....A Mixed Bag In an Election Year

I have written before that I, myself, a small business person of many years, would actually see
the recession weary economy--would actually get stronger as the months before the next national election, this coming November, 2012.

For most small businesses, with retail and online offerings, it is no secret that sales fell off a cliff
when the recession started and no matter what anyone says, or reports (unless you are in the oil
or insurance business), business has not come back to the level it was prior to the recession.

Many of us have been holding on, figuring that business had to improve at some point, but for many, I have found, they have lost their ability to even be optimistic. That is one of the reasons, I believe, that there is so much emotion built into this coming election. People are tired
of this suffering and they somehow think that electing a new leader will change that, or that staying the course is the best option.

I really do not care, and many of those who know me might now believe me, but I simply want my business and my employees to be better off than they were a month ago, a year ago or even
two years ago--but that is not the case and I am right there with them.

Those hopes of better times and more business due to the election, due to the improved job numbers, and monthly governmental reports--all seemed to indicate, especially with today's jobs report, that times are actually getting better. Allow me to indulge some of what I saw and heard in the last week.

I was visiting Las Vegas on business last week. A giant concrete show was just ending, but when I was there midweek, the town was pretty empty, no gambling tables were full and most if not all of the casinos were at less than 60% capacity. Then I saw two to three construction sites half done, work abandoned, like a giant sculpture of our times: incredible promise and beauty, unfulfilled. Then I heard that some homes actually went up a little.......when I returned to one of our retail stores, I was helping a customer who had come in looking for a box and some packing supplies. He was shipping an auto part. I asked him if this was for his business, and he told me
that it was not; that he was picking parts off his car to be able to pay the rent, selling them on eBay. I gave him some free materials for his shipment.

I then dealt with a customer who sold an old beer sign to someone on eBay, and it broke in transit and the buyer nixed the sale through Pay pal, so the customer was out $250.00.
She called us screaming, like we had assaulted her, as Pay pal took her food money, apparently.
She blamed us and then I asked her for a little time to put the facts together and do an investigation on her behalf, as the service we provided to her was from another one of our
local Las Vegas outlets.

I spoke to the manager who handled the transaction and recalled the details and had put together a file, just in case something happened. He told me that he informed the customer
that in order to prevent damage, she had to protectively pack this item with cushioning on all
six (6) of its sides, as just wrapping the item with Bubble Warp or Paper, would not ensure its
safe arrival. After, we do this for a living, we always inform the customer so they can decide
if they want to take the risk or pay the cost of doing it right.

This customer chose not to do it right, for two reasons: one, today, the package carriers charge for size and packing this sign right meant that she would be charged more for shipping it, due to the enlarged size, and two, she did not want to spend the money to have us guarantee pack the sign.

This was not about fairness, equity or what she did not do or if she got what she bargained for,
as all of that was true, but she was just going crazy cause she had no money to feed her children
because Pay pal took her money unilaterally.

I hope that the jobs numbers are actually true, as help needs to come quick to those who need it most, and the problem from my perspective, is that these recoveries are often uneven and unfair as sometimes, the rich get richer before the poor or middle class gets better, but I am not
talking about politics here, it is just that housing, which got hit hard in this recession, affects those in California, Nevada and Arizona more, as that was our economic core driver in the past, since we do not make or manufacture anything in the west anymore.

I have seen signs, as some might suggest that our business--selling moving boxes, helping people move, small loads, packaging and crating, stock boxes, packaging aid, shipping, moving, etc., are all activities that lead to more activity. If a customer buys a few moving boxes, and moves, he engages all kind of services, from alarms, furniture, carpet cleaning, maid service, painting, plumbing, remodeling, construction, water bottle service, not to mention a new customer for the dry cleaning, the hear salon, the restaurant, etc. They used to say that one move results in 7 other moves as a domino effect, but I really am not sure how that number was obtained.

I do know that we are seeing more activity in some of our stores on the west side of Los Angeles,
our locations in the bay area have seen more improvement too. I am hopeful that these are signs of improvement, but I definitely do not want to do a forecast as I have been hopeful before, too. But I am hopeful that with this election and with the hope for better times a head, considering how long we have been under this recession, one can't help but hope that maybe, just maybe, better times are really on the way. For all of our sakes, lets hope so.

Food Challenge at Thanksgiving...Some Thoughts

For many of us, it is hard to even believe that this wonderful family holiday is now here. Maybe it is me, but this past year, has, seemed to go by quickly, at least on a macro level.

On a micro, day to day level, I am one who is glad this 2011 is coming to an end, as it has been
trying financially, economically and it seems that many in our society feel the need to protest
(for lack of a better label..) how things are going down in our nation and in this world, now called
a global economy.

I, for one, have no idea what is going on out there, nor have I any true understanding how we got to this place, as a nation. We see demonstrations in cities in America, and around the world, but not in the world's most populous country, and our biggest foreign trading partner, China. Nor do we see this same turmoil in Iran, Russia or Cuba.......and that is my point.

NO one here, as difficult as things are compared to times in the past, would leave this great
country and go live in China, or Russia, Cuba or Iran, where you cannot protest anything without
risking your life and your family's. We take this for granted, for sure.

The amazing thing about this holiday, is that to me, it is a "melting pot enhancer." I know, what
the heck is a melting pot enhancer? Good question.

As a child of immigrants to this country (my parents and brother came to the United States after
World War II), I know that many people from far away lands, do not always find America's rich
traditions familiar. However, I can't remember when our family ever failed to celebrate this holiday and used it as a way to give thanks for what we had as a family. I know my parents
only wanted a better life for their children and family than they had in Europe, and their great hope for the future, was somehow embodied in this American Holiday.

Today, everyone seems to celebrate this day with family and that is why this is such a special day and while many of us wish for better times, I think we all have a duty to just stop and take
some time to show some appreciation for all the special gifts we have. We have so much to be
thankful for, and surely, better times for all should be around the corner, but in a little way, it
starts with each and everyone of us.

So I challenge all of you to do something for someone else in the coming days. It can be saying
hello, or simply thanking someone for being who they are. I always try to overcome my frustration, and I am not very good at it all the time, but at times like this, I am going to try
harder to show my appreciation for what I have in my life and to say thanks to those who have
been there and who have made the difference, in a good way, for so many others.

This is why, I am also proud to announce that starting on Monday, November 28th, at all Box Brothers Locations, any food donations customers bring in, until the first of the year (2012),
customers will receive a coupon for up to 20% off all air shipping and all packaging services
we provide at all of our retail outlets. In addition, Box Brothers locations will hand out free
Move for Hunger Boxes to customers so that they can package their donations and bring them
in to any Box Brothers location for drop off. We will then extend to you our discount coupon offers, and arrange for all the food to go to the the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Sofa
Pantry and the Central Ave Corridor Food Bank, as well.

In this time of need, we want to stand tall and respect not only those in our community who might need a little assistance, but to stand up against hunger, as this is one of those things in life that we can all make better by extending ourselves to others who have a greater need.

Let all join together and make this holiday season the best one for everyone, in the true spirit of giving.

I guess I have taken the first step, and I challenge all of my people here at Box Brothers to do the same and I wish this message goes far and deep, so we can help to fight hunger in our great land. God Bless America, and Have a Great Thanksgiving.

If Summer is Over...why is it still hot????

I have written in this blog numerous times about the seasonality of the Moving and Shipping
business, which is a large part of what we do at Box Brothers.

As few as 60 days ago, all hell seemed to break loose, after a few years of dismal not seasonal
summer months, for everyone in the Moving/Shipping Business. Things were said, like, we did
not have a summer, and to be frank, this industry shrank. More long haul drivers left the business, more retailers closed up shop, other firms consolidated and still, true to form, about
20% of the rest continued to lie about their results. One would think that misery would love company....but there is always some in a group who need to outshine the others, and they try to make the rest of think that maybe it is just us who is slow.

My vendors do that. They come to me and let me know that their sources, indicate, a busy month, for August. After all, for those of us on the west coast, due to the heat and tradition, most of our schools and universities, do not resume the fall schedule until after Labor Day.
Well, it is only the 5th of August, but every single mover from San Francisco to Los Angeles,
to Las Vegas, is slow. Same song....the phones are not ringing. Can you name this tune........
a big hit from 2009 and 2010: where did our summer go.........no no no no no no no more......

It is amazing and all kidding aside, it is hard to believe that the moving and shipping season seems to have come to a halt, for those of us in it. Of course, there are exceptions or pockets of
areas that seem to counter the overall flow, but it is a vivid reminder of how bad this economy is and how much people feel scared to spend.

I know that is how I feel at times, I always tend to second guess purchases, due to the fact that
no one can really say what the next six months will bring. And every day there is a mixed or bad signal, like the recent losing streak on Wall Street, that is really scary, as they used to say that the stock market is a bellwether indicator of what is going to take place in the next 3 to 6 months. Who can say for sure, as every week these guys (guru's???) tell a darn different story.

I was just getting excited to learn that we are going to have both college and pro football seasons,
with all their glory, and then we get kicked in the gut, reminding us that the struggle for survival is now on again, just like it was prior to June. We all need to get in gear and remember that no matter how tough things get, the ones with the best teams, always win, and for the last 26 years,
I am proud to say that there is no better company to take care of your moving and shipping needs like the Box Brothers Family, both in good and difficult times.

And don't worry, there has to be a number of procrastinators out there who did not get done what they need to get done and we will be waiting and ready to service them, in this heat.
O'h well, summer is almost over. Bring on the fall....

I have been thinking of one of our employees

This week, seemed so full, that I felt as though I needed to remind everyone,
that while we seem busy with our customers and our families and there is always
a rush to get everything done--that needs to get done, that we need to remember
that there are others out there, who are not doing well and who, through no fault of
there own, continue to experience pain in their lives, for a multitude of reasons.

I am thinking that we all have our troubles, our issues and our problems to work out,
but I have been thinking of one of our employees, and the fact that his wife is very ill.
It is not just that this family has two young children, and that his wife is battling a terrible
disease, but I just wanted to give a little credit to the man who has to not only deal with
work, children, and a household, but also has to manage to take care of his wife.

If you ask me, and no one really has....that this man is going through quite a bit, and I wanted
to give him some kudo's for being so strong and for being able to do all he needs to do, for his
family and for us at work. I have to confess, that I am not sure if I were that man, I would
be as strong and even keeled as he has been, given what he is going through, daily.

I can only imagine his pain and admire his perserverence, and I find it difficult to be able
to know where he gets his strength, but I want to pay an anonymous tribute to him and give
thanks that he is on our team. You get to find out a lot about people when they go through
tuff times; like how they handle adversity, or if they take it out on others, as so many of us seem to do.

I am just not sure, how he does it, but I want the world to know how proud of him I am and that
just thinking of what he is going through makes me realize how lucky we are to have him a part of our extended family, at Box Brothers.

If nothing else, this man shows us how to live life, and we should all take note, as bad things happen to good people all the time, it seems, and I have to admit, how we react to them makes all the difference in how we really live life.

While this post may seem a bit distant to the subject of boxes, packaging and shipping, I am of the belief that we all need to be reminded of how important some things are and how we tend
to focus on less important matters, all the time. Traffic, errands, policies, procedures, and stuff like that.

I do not often ask people to pray for others, especially for those who we might not even know, but I am hopeful that we can all learn from the pain of others and be better people for it. To the extent that we can foster than kind of attitude here at Box Brothers, I feel that anything is possible, even a complete recovery for our employee's wife. Lets employ the power of positive
thinking and then we can all get to be much better place.

Auction Logisitcs...And Celebrity Auctions

Auction Logistics, is the name we have attached, to those tasks associated with assisting
auctioneers with the marshaling of auction assets and preparing them for sale, as well as
the disposition of purchased property, from the auction.

At Box Brothers, we have been blessed to be a part of some really memorable and fantastic
auctions, of all types. We can talk about our participation in the marshaling of assets on behalf
of the Michael Jackson auction, the Bob Hope Auction, the Ozzy Osbourne Auction, the upcoming Debbie Reynolds Auction next month, or the many varied auctions that take place at Bonhams and Butterfields, one of our regular and long term auction clients.

Over the years, it is our belief, that we have worked more auctions and serviced more auction
buyers, than any other firm in North America, for the last 10 years. This is largely because of
our packaging and shipping abilities and offerings, from the packing and shipping of very small
items (e.g. jewelry, dishes, glassware, porcelain figurines, albums, keepsakes, etc) to pieces of
artwork, musical instruments, furniture pieces, chandeliers and just about any other item you
can think of.

We have handled items from Elvis Presley, Elton John, Sting, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones
and we have distributed props from movies and television series and even bathroom fixtures
from some famous, unnamed people. But the most rewarding and satisfying part of servicing
the Auction industry, is seeing the purchasers actually receiving their property and how happy they are to own these articles that were once used on stage, on television or used by those artists
who they have been fans of for some time.

There are auctions that have less emotion associated with them, like auctions for coins and
old money, or stamps, but in virtually all other fields (memorabilia, sports or entertainment,
artwork collections), the customers are so thrilled to own a piece of history, that they often cannot wait to collect their purchases.

I recall sitting one year at the MusicCares Auction, the division of the Grammy Awards, where
someone who I had met came and got an Eric Clapton Guitar. He had been to his concerts since
he was a teenage, and had followed his career to the point in his life, that he could not afford to own a piece of history or an article that his favorite artist had used. He was so happy, he could
not wait to pay for it and get it. I think he wanted to sleep with it.

When we discussed shipping the guitar back to his home in Texas, he told me that he wanted it
insured, and I asked what the value was, and he said PRICELESS (this was before the Master Card Campaign by the same name). It is almost kids opening gifts on Christmas Day, but a little
more planned.

On the Auction side, we have developed great pride in our work, coming up with many innovations that allow for our auction partners, to not only streamline the after auction process, but with our systems, experience and know how, we have been able to maximize the auctioneers return by allowing them to focus on the actual auction process, not the logistics portion, and since
we guarantee all of our work and indemnify against any and all loses, we have been able to create a win win relationship for both the purchasers and auctioneers, at the same time.

We just love the work, the challenges, it poses and being able to have everyone happy with the results.
Here's to more auctions.....

Why do I need new Moving Boxes?

Bed Bugs Moving Box Warning

by Ben

We manage a box store. Some years ago, people who were moving would often go looking for used boxes behind super markets and grocery stores. Nowadays, there are several companies who actually sell used boxes.

Many consumers are unaware of the hazards that come with moving your belongings in used moving boxes.

Pre-used boxes come with a host of other hazards, such as:

Lack of cleanliness.
Insects or insect eggs may reside within the boxes. Furthermore, damaging parasites or insects such as bed bugs, termites, lice, scabies, and others may have come in contact with the boxes.

Even one bed bug could result in a total infestation of your new home. Rodent droppings could reside in the box, which may be extremely harmful to you and your families health.

Lack of knowledge about what was previously in the box (i.e. Packing your toothbrush in a box that once held a floor mat, or hazardous chemicals and cleaning materials). The strength and durability of the box has been compromised.
The box may contain odor and Bed Bugs from previous contents.

The average person who doesn’t move very often is likely to overlook these facts in the interest of saving a few cents. However, upon reviewing the (very real) hazards that come with using used boxes, it becomes apparent that the potential damage that could be caused would be expensive to repair.

Imagine bringing a box to your new home that not long before held a comforter that contained bed bug eggs. A potential infestation in your new home would be disastrous and very difficult and expensive to remedy. Furthermore, the value of safety is priceless, and your safety and sanitation can be compromised by packing with used boxes. Imagine packing your toiletries in a box that once held household cleaners. What if those cleaners leaked in the box? That is, without a doubt, a potential safety hazard.

EXTRA TIP: Be sure to place your mattress in a box or mattress bag before moving! You never know what bugs and critters may reside in the moving truck and it’s moving blankets/pads!

Nevertheless, re-using boxes does go a long way as far as being “green” is concerned. The act of recycling, many believe, makes using used boxes worthwhile. HOWEVER, as far as environmental friendliness is concerned, there is NO difference between re-using a box, and using New boxes.

Why use an old and hazardous box, when you could use a new box made of 100% recycled materials?
A new box made of post-consumer recycled products is: stronger and cleaner, And above all, environmentally friendly and Bed Bug free.

Editor Comment Bed Bugs Moving Box Warning

Thank you for sharing this important advice. There is no question that bed bugs can be hiding in used moving boxes. I'd advise anyone that is moving to not only use new boxes, but to ask if the moving truck was inspected for bed bugs.

Remember, people who used the truck to move their belongings may have had bed bugs. Because of this problem, many moving companies are treating their trucks for bed bugs. Be sure to ask as there have been reports of bed bug infestations caused by moving.

Another week, another dollar....another week of mixed economic news, another round of
news from the crazy world we live in and closer to home, we have cold weather, snow
in Dallas and our friends in San Antonio got a snow day. Imagine that, our Texas Licensee
can go ice fishing.......

Closer to home, it seems that the flu bug is running around town, spreading its ugliness....
we have had several people out with the flu and it is not a 1 day thing this time. I heard of kids
being really sick, and we had all of our office staff at Inglewood get hit with the bug, leaving us
a little shorthanded.

I am hopeful that after this week of weather across the US, that maybe we get a little warmer
and I know Texas will recover since the Super Bowl is played in an indoor stadium....and it is
always nice when the sun does eventually come out.......

So lets get on the mend and I hope all of you have a nice super bowl weekend and for those of you under the weather, get well and for those of you ready to party for the Pack or the Steelers, have a great time. http://www.boxbros.com/

Fine Art Packing & Shipping

Packaging Fine Art is a delicate task that requires proper training, natural skill, extensive knowledge, and, most notably, loads of experience. “Experience” is critical to successfully packing and transporting precious, fragile artwork safely. Furthermore, this quality is not one than can be taught or learned, making ‘experience’ an invaluable trait in a packing/shipping company. Box Brothers has over 25 years experience handling all manner of fine art, including (but not limited to) sculptures, oil paintings, ceramics, glass art, models, statues, display pieces, antique art, museum pieces, medieval art, historical pieces/artifacts, and more! Throughout our two-and-a-half decades in the business, we have developed unique and innovative packaging techniques not found anywhere else in the industry.

At Box Brothers, we believe in giving our clients a vast array of options to choose from. Our packaging service, for example, is fully personalized for each individual client, allowing him/her to select only the services they want, without having to pay for the ones they don’t need. Similarly, our shipping services are designed to allow each client to choose from a host of multiple options and carriers. We offer shipping with all major carriers, as well as freight services, via ground, air, and ocean. Even if you are moving (and have already hired a mover), and do not require our shipping services, we would be happy to come to your home and package your fine art on-site in preparation for your move. Call or come in today for more information!
• Over 25 years experience working with museums, galleries, art collectors, designers, auction houses, artists, architects, interior decorators, art exhibits, home stagers, hotels, and many more.
• Personalized service plans to ensure that you pay for only the services you need! NO Unnecessary Costs! NO Hidden Fees!
• Our award-winning professional packaging team has the highest level of training, knowledge, and experience in the business. We use only the highest-quality packaging materials to ensure maximum safety for your fine art. Pack and ship your items with a team of experts you can trust.

• We offer in-home packaging as well as in-store. Come to us, or we’ll come to you! It’s your choice!
• We build high-quality custom crates for each individual item, depending on its size and specifications. Each crate is made to order, designed specifically for your item.
• Reliable shipping services, including all major carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL) and freight services. Our extensive list of shipping options enables our clients to choose from a huge selection of services, each varying in price and features.
• Not ready to transport your fine art just yet? We offer storage services that you can trust to store your items safely until they are ready for transport.
• Our packaging services are available to anyone… even if shipping services are not required. Whether you are moving, shipping, or storing, call today to find out why Box Brothers’ packaging service is the right option for you.
Box Brothers has packed, shipped, and stored fine art for a multitude of clients, including museums, galleries, art collectors, designers, auction houses, artists, architects, interior decorators, art exhibits, home stagers, hotels, and many more. Additionally, we offer services for people who are moving from their residence and need their fine art packaged and/or shipped. Even if you’ve already hired a standard mover, you may want to consider having our artwork packaged by our specialists, as they are specifically trained to package fine art. Furthermore, if you choose to pack your belongings on your own (instead of having your movers do it), but wish to have your valuable art professionally packaged, standard movers will often charge you a pre-determined flat-rate for “packaging.” This means that just to pack your fine art, they are charging you the standard fee to pack an entire household. At Box Brothers, we charge only for what we package, without any hidden fees or strings attached.
Every aspect of your order is personalized according to your needs, including preference, budget, and any other factors that may exist. Elsewhere, customers are often restricted by having only a few ‘service plans’ to choose from, and being unable to customize them. This often results in a client paying for the highest-tiers of packaging and shipping, regardless of whether or not they need both, or any of them for that matter.
Example: You’d like to pack & ship a painting, and you are concerned about the fragile, antique frame. You are less concerned, however, with when it arrives at its destination. In this case, you may select the safest, highest-quality packaging service (custom crating) to pack your painting. To ship it, though, you might choose an affordable, standard ground service.
Call or come in today to learn more about our fine art packing & shipping services.
